Read the Bible in 2011 ◊ Week 12: Sunday

“Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies.”
1 Corinthians 8:1b

Sunday’s Bible reading is 1 Corinthians 7–8. Paul’s teaching on immorality at the end of chapter 6 transitions into a discussion of marriage in chapter 7. Chapter 8 is about how to act towards a fellow Christian with a weak conscience. While at first glance the topics of these two chapters may seem unrelated, as I read them I thought that there are some underlying similarities.

Both chapters are about relationships and about thinking of someone else before ourselves. Both entail thinking about who God has called us to be and how God has called us to live. They are both practical applications of loving God and loving one another.
