Read the Bible in 2011 ◊ Week 20: Wednesday
“Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me,
For my soul takes refuge in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge
Until destruction passes by.
I will cry to God Most High,
To God who accomplishes all things for me.”
Psalm 57:1–2
All three psalms in Wednesday’s Bible reading of Psalms 57–59, are psalms of David. They are also psalms “written on the run.” The context of Psalms 57 and 59 are specifically mentioned—they belong to his days of persecution by Saul (Psalm 57: cf 1 Samuel 22. Psalm 59: cf. 1 Samuel 19:1, 9–18).
