For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”
John 17:17
The portrait of Martin Luther on the main page is by Lucas Cranach the Elder. The Latin phrase at the top, In Silentio Fortitudio Et Spe Erit Vestra, is from Isaiah 30:15, “In quietness and trust is your strength.” The verse certainly goes well with Stephen Melniszen thoughts on Martin Luther’s famous hymn, “A Mighty Fortress.” The post, the hymn, and the encouragement from Psalm 45 and reminder in Isaiah 30:15 are so helpful to reflect on as we begin a new year.
All four verses of “A Mighty Fortress” can be found at Hymnary.
