Reflections on 2 Corinthians 1:1-11

The heart that hears and understands
With tenderness the pain,
In caring, shares revealing scars,
To help me bear the strain.

Compassion’s mark is found on those,
Who suffering have met,
I trace their kindness in their words,
As well as courage set.

Those who have been through fire’s blaze,
Shine bright to those who need
Tempered, proved, extended light,
To show the way indeed.

Bruised lives our Savior gently holds,
While storm around us breaks,
He knows the grief within our thoughts,
The ache that sorrow makes.

He calls His own to comfort those,
Within affliction’s hour—
To share His mercies from the past,
That they may trust His power.

When falters hope, and fears break through,
By friends I know His grace;
You know my path—you’ve walked it, too;
In you I see His face.
