Psalm 96–98: Light & Gladness

Read the Bible in 2011Week 33: Wednesday

Light is sown like seed for the righteous
And gladness for the upright in heart.
Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones,
And give thanks to His holy name.

Psalm 97:11–12

Wednesday’s Bible reading is Psalms 96–98. These are psalms of joy and gladness. As you read them, think about what these psalms teach you about God. What do they tell you about:

His majesty and power as Creator and sovereign Lord?

His righteousness as a King who loves justice?

His wonderful deeds?

Why is the psalmist glad? Why does he call us to sing a new song? Look at the text itself for your answers.

May God bless you and give you a new song.

  1. “Oh, sing to the LORD a new song!
    For He has done marvelous things;
    His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.” Psalm 98:1

    Thank you for the word of encouragement. Always a good reminder to praise Him for the marvelous things He has done!

  2. I’m so glad you were encouraged. One thing I like about the daily Bible reading plan I use is that it mixes up the readings from different books from day to day. Many times God’s providential hand has been very evident in the topics and chapters for the day.
