“This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations; I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud, and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
Genesis 9:12–16
Late yesterday afternoon I saw the most magnificent rainbow that I can ever remember seeing. Not only were the colors brilliant, but the cloud bank was luminescent with the sun’s light. My cell camera couldn’t capture the splendor. Some rainbows are misty colors against a gray sky, but this rainbow shone with brilliance enhanced by its background of blue sky.
“As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.”
Ezekiel 1:28a
Rainbows always lift my heart. Their serendipity is part of the wonder of this glad sign from God.
“The heavens are telling of the glory of God.”

Rainbows always lift my heart too. They always seem to remind me of just how much God loves me and just how beautiful He is.
I take rainbows seriously. They are a sign of God’s covenant. Whenever I see a full arch or double arch I pay special attention. Thanks for the reminder.
