Fall Planning & Pacing

You may have noticed I’ve been writing everyday since September 1. I’d like to finish closing the gaps in the posts for Spring and Summer Quarters in Read the Bible in 2011 by Thanksgiving, and my plan, with God’s help, is to work on posting Monday through Friday.*

The daily posts will be from different books of the Bible, and because I’m filling in gaps you may only see a few from one book. The Bible reading plan I’ve followed has a reading from different sections of the Bible each day of the week. That may whet your appetite or it may drive you crazy! If you want to read through a book rather than follow the daily posts, go to the header, see what’s there, and start reading.

During the holidays at Thanksgiving there are some posts I edit and republish. One especially was a milestone for me in my walk with the Lord.

In December I post Christmas music and art. I started what is now an annual tradition back in December 2010, and each year I’ve add more songs and more paintings and pictures. Last year I think I was able to post music for every day of the Advent season including some for the end of December.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12:7, that God has given each Christian spiritual gifts to help each other; these gifts from God are different, but every single one is given by God for the help of all. Each gift is part of God’s manifold (the Greek mean “variegated, multi-colored”1 as in yarn!) grace for His children.

My pastor, Mike Braun, used to say grace is God’s provision for what you need. Well, the different gifts are part of God’s provision for what we need! We need to hear the Bible taught—He gives the gift of teaching; we need a listening ear—He gives the gift of encouragement; we need help to care for a sick child—He gives the gift of service. We serve each other as good stewards of the gift He has given us.

At this time in my life I think writing here is how God wants me to serve other Christian women. Please pray for me as I work to be a good steward in serving you.

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:10–11

As I’ve been reading and writing, God has been encouraging me from His Word. I’m praying for you as you read that God will be giving you the grace you need!

*If you’re catching up and wondering why I’m talking about ten-year-old posts, in 2011 I started a year-long series of posts, Read the Bible in 2011. You can find the posts in the navigation menu in the header under Bible. That year was such a difficult one for me and my family, there are some posts without links. On those days my posts were simply reminders about the reading. I’m filling in some of those gaps with new posts with “Read the Bible in 2011 Redux” as a category. I hope to begin writing the rest of the Fall Quarter posts of Read the Bible in 2011 in January.
